He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

- Devil (gk 1228), diablos, is translated as Satan, false accuser, devil and slanderer. It's also a metaphor for the prince of demons the author of evil.
- Destroy (gk 3089), lyo, is translated as breakup, destroy, loosen, dissolve or melt. To loose one who is bound and set them free.
John 6:70 says "Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?”"
We understand even better what Jesus was saying when you understand what the word He used actually means. It could be translated, "Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a slanderer and a false accuser."
How are Slander, False Accusations and Lies Destroyed?
Truth! John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Jesus came to set people free.... FROM LIES THAT BIND, KILL, STEAL, DESTROY AND OPPRESS. (Rom. 6:22, Rom. 8:2)
The truth is, believers have been given the keys to the kingdom and our job is to loose the people. We've been commissioned to use the truth to set the captives free.
