Many years ago we were introduced to and impacted by the teaching and bold faith of John G Lake. My friend Linda said on her Facebook post:
Jesus said, in Luke 10:19, "I have given you All power and all authority over all the works of the enemy, nothing will harm you." This is how John G. Lake lived.
As if God’s protection of John G. Lake and his staff was not enough during the plague that was killing the masses in South Africa, John G. Lake was to prove yet again how powerful the name of Jesus truly is. He invited the other secular doctors to experiment with him, asking them to take the foam of the lungs of the dead plague victims and study it under a microscope, finding countless amounts of living germs inside. But Lake would surprise all in the room when he asked the doctors to spread the infected foam over his hands and claimed that the germs would die! Once the foam was placed in Lake’s hands, the doctors saw through the microscope that the germs died instantly! Everyone in the room stood amazed as John just gave all the glory to God. He told the doctors “You can fill my hand with them and I will keep it under the microscope, and instead of these germs remaining alive, they will die instantly.
My Facebook Post says - This Should be the Church's Finest Hour
This situation has created what should be the Church’s finest hour. Not only has Christ given us the responsibility, the assignment, the authority the lay hands upon the sick (ie. Mark 15:15-18) but He also said in Matthew 10:7-8 "And as you go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.' Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give."
He has given some of us a gift of healing.
1 Corinthians 12:4-9 says "There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, "
Also, faith works by love.
Galatians 5:6 says, "For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love."
Mature love casts out all fear.
1 John 4:17-18 says, "Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love."
So I pray for a remnant to rise up in love to lay hands upon the sick and to stretch forth their/our hands in love.
We also have the words of eternal life!
John 6:68 says, "But Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life."
1 Corinthians 15:50-57 says, "Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory."
"O Death, where is your sting?
O Hades, where is your victory?"
The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
