First let's start with a foundation of understanding. God created the heavens and the universe. He created natural laws and spiritual laws. These laws work just like the law of gravity works. The law of gravity works the same with a righteous person as it will work with an evil person.
I can tell you how witchcraft, divination and soothsaying work because I understand how prophecy, words of knowledge, discerning of spirits and other spiritual gifts work. If a righteous person drops a big stone on a pile of rocks he is using to make a wall, the rock will fall at the exact same speed and hit with the exact same force as it will with an evil person. The only difference might be the target. For example, the evil person may choose to use the same object for an evil motive. He may choose to use the stone in the same manner to take someones life or harm another person. The natural law governing how the stone falls can be the same. The only difference is the person's motive and target in exercising that natural law.
It is the same with spiritual laws. Spiritual laws work the same way as they do in the natural world. The main issue is what's the motive and the target of the practitioner.
The truth is there is a lot more witchcraft practiced today than many realize. I'll use the following scriptures to help explain.
1 Corinthians 15:46, Hebrews 8:5 and 10:1 teach us the concept of first the natural then the spiritual as well as how the old is a type and shadow of the new. While natural, spiritual, old and new are distinct they are also intertwined. The natural and the spiritual exist together. Just as there is a natural world with people there is a spiritual world right there consisting of God and His angels and Satan and his demons.
Heavenly War
Revelation 12 teaches us that there is a spiritual war that spilled from heaven to earth. Verse 11 and Hebrews 4:12 teach us how words are used as weapons in this fight. Genesis 1:27 teach us how God made man in His image and Hebrews 11:3 teach us how God used His words to create the world. Since we are made in God's image our words have power to.
Our Words Empower Angels or Demons
Our words can create light or darkness, life or death (Proverbs 18:21).
Angels respond to God's word (Psalm 103:20). Recognizing that Satan counterfeits what God demons respond to and will take advantage of any word that is not of God. Hence, our words can empower angels or demons to work upon our behalf. It depends on what we say. Our words empower angels or demons. Which ones do your words activate the most?
Blessing and cursing are a spiritual law associated with honoring God's word or not (Deuteronomy 28) and Proverbs 26:2 teaches us that a curse has no place to land unless the person acts so as to not honor God's word.
Divination
Divination taps into the supernatural world accessed through spiritual laws. It's the art of determining the future or divine will. It seeks to tap into or be like a god. When you understand the heavenly war that spilled to earth in Revelation 12 then you understand there is God and Satan. Satan rebelled against God and was cast out (Isaiah 14:11-16 & Ezekiel 28:1-10).
Witchcraft
The term translated witchcraft in the NKJV is used six times. In four scriptures (Deuteronomy 18:10, 2 Kings 17:17, 2 Kings 21:6 and 2 Chronicles 3:6) it is associated with sacrificing children (ie. think Planned Parenthood) and consulting, spiritists, soothsayers or mediums. They seek to access future knowledge or affect the future of others through occult means. In 2 Kings 9:22 it refers to Jezebel who practices witchcraft (her priests are mentioned in 3 of the 4 previous scriptures).
The last scripture is the key. It is 1 Samuel 15:23 which says, "For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft...."
Motives - Discerning between Righteous and Evil
When a person operates in a spiritual or natural world the laws remain the same for all. The difference between the righteous and the evil have to do with their motives. The righteous seek to glorify God and do His will while the evil rebellious person seeks their own glory, power, wealth or pleasure.
For example, consider Balaam! Jude 11, 2 Peter 2;15, Numbers 24 and 31 illustrate that every word he prophesied was accurate concerning Israel. What made him a false prophet was his greedy motive. That greed led him to give council which led to Israel sinning and inviting God's judgment.
The operation of the true verses the operation of the false is often hard to discern because they look so much alike in practice. That's why in Matthew 17:15-20 Jesus admonishes us to discern the true prophet from the false prophet by examining their fruit (character - Galatians 5:14-21). The righteous give glory to God and display the fruits of the spirit. The evil or false will display the fruits of the flesh.
A Modern Example of Witchcraft & the Last Election
Click here for an article from October 30, 2017 , "Each month, thousands of witches cast a spell against Donald Trump."
The article states among other things that over 13,000 resistance witches practice cursing President Trump every month. In fact, they even send a team down to Trump Tower to cast a spell as well.
So tell me my prophetic intercessors, what does this sound like? The corporate prayer of agreement, prayer walking, praying on site with insight? Pick your group, Intercessors for America, The Call, Generals of Intercession, Prophets for Trump, or POTUS Shield.... the list goes on.
The Real Problem is the Sneak Attack from Within
The truth is, witches and their covens are not as big a problem as is the saints who in ignorance of God's word or through their undeveloped character and undisciplined tongue resort to cursing themselves, their family, their pastor, their church, their nation, their president..... the list goes on.
The question you have to ask yourself is, to whom are you giving your words to? God and His angels or Satan and his demons? Do unrighteous desires sometimes sneak up on you? Do they tempt you to say or do things you ought not? You see, when good people resort to manipulation to get their way, they've often slipped into the practice of witchcraft. Sometimes we slip up and criticize a brother or a sister or another person in a wrong way or gossip. When we do this we just lent our tongue to the adversary who traffics in accusation (Revelation 12:10).
The great thing is, that if we repent, God will forgive! and when we lend our tongue to God we can build up and restore. We can become repairers of the breach. Our words can build up or tear down. I pray you use your words to build God's Church, advance His kingdom and destroy the works of the devil like Jesus did in 1 John 3:8.
I hope this is helpful. I'd love to hear your comments.
