The reason I introduced Dr. Grimstead here is that in 1986 he along with other national evangelical leaders in the US took prophetic action at the Lincoln Memorial in response to the evils of their day. You'll find all the details in "The Manifesto for the Christian Church" which laid out a call for humility and repentance as well as a call to action by the Church on July 4, 1986.
As I reviewed this historical event, I recognized the situation in our nation and in the Church was different than it is today, while at the same time, it was the same. While the issues and people are different, the root causes of evil were the same. It's the same spiritual war that spilled from heaven to earth in Revelation 12. The Truth is also the same. He is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He, Jesus Christ who is also the Word made flesh (John 1:1). He is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6).
With this in mind, I wanted to share The Manifesto for the Christian Church. Click here. They used this at the Lincoln Memorial. I urge you to look at the call for humility, repentance, and contrition, as well as reviewing their declarations and call to action. The work is as apostolic as it was prophetic.
Truly we live in a time where evil grows darker while the number of lights seems to diminish. Note I did not say the light seemed to fade. On the contrary I see the light getting brighter and brighter (Isaiah 60:1-3). I said the "number" of lights seemed to diminish. It reminds me of Gideon and the 300. There is a remnant Church arising at this time.
A Call to Action for Courageous Leaders
I encourage you to personally review, pray and act in accordance with the leading of our Lord. Then be like a herald. Run with the message to leaders in your community. I hope and pray pastors and ministers who read this will prayerfully consider hosting an assembly in the first quarter of 2022 to:
- Pray
- Covenant with our heavenly Father
- Determine how the Church is called to engage the evils of this day within their respective jurisdictions with not only prayer but faith in action based on God's love and informed by His wisdom.
- Dr. Grimstead presents a vision for Statewide Gideon Reformation Teams click here. You'll note that in Dr. Jay's call to action, he is encouraging leaders to utilize the 1Church1Day strategy to mobilize prayer and form strategic councils with leaders representing all 7 spheres of society.
