Jesus said, go make disciples of all nations. So here is my question, how can you tell when a nation is discipled? I do not intend to completely answer at this time but I want to ask an even more specific question.
Do you think, that a nation who is discipled will have laws that reflect an understanding of God's truth?
I do! But unfortunately much of the Church in America acts like they do not believe this.
Becoming a disciple is not a one time event. It's a life long process. I have taught the word of God for years and I've mentored, discipled leaders in the Church for years. Some even consider me like a father in the Lord. At the same time, I'm still a disciple. I spend time in God's word, in prayer and in the presence of our Lord daily. He teaches me by His spirit and through other men and women who are anointed 5 fold gifts in the body of Christ.
You see, God is the Creator of heaven and earth. He made mankind, male and female He created them! He created marriage and designed all of creation and determined how it works including how life is conceived.
He created the law of gravity. It works all the time. If you understand the law of aerodynamics you can create vehicles that overcome the law of gravity... for a short time. But one thing for sure. It just works.
There are spiritual laws that always work to!

If you know the truth, and ignore it, then you are stupid. If you do not know it, then you are ignorant. There is a big difference. However, the consequences will be the same.
This is where the beauty of repentance comes in. We can change our minds which leads to a change of action. Glory to God, this will lead to a change in results; better results.
Abominations - Acts Which Cause the Land to Vomit the Inhabitants Out
The Bible is the manufacturer's instruction for life! It is life's operators manual. It teaches us how life works. Consider this warning from a Toro Lawn Mower's manual.
Improperly using or maintaining this machine can result in injury. To reduce the potential for injury, comply with these safety instructions and always pay attention to the safety-alert symbol, which means Caution, Warning, or Danger—personal safety instruction. Failure to comply with these instructions may result in personal injury or death.
Now the way some people act today they'd cry, Did you see that? Personal injury or death! I can't believe Toro is judging me!
At least, that's the way many people treat certain truths in the Bible. They kind of read over, ignore the "improperly using or maintaining this machine can result in injury" statement. Or, they are like a lot of guys who choose to not read it and kind of figure it out as they go.
So if you recognize that the Bible is the operator's manual for life in this world and in this universe, then can be better prepared to operate life with understanding and position yourself for more blessing.
You would understand the "spiritual law" described in Leviticus 18:25 which describes what happens when the land is defiled. It vomits or expels the inhabitants from the land. If you do a study you will find that the land might use a war or it could be a natural disaster. Or its just the consequence of acts described as abominations in Leviticus 18. Acts such as:
- Incest, adultery or fornication
- Sacrificing (murdering) children
- Homosexuality or beastiality
The Kings & their Laws that Made Israel Sin
1 Kings 14:16, says "And He will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, who sinned and who made Israel sin.”
The king sinned and he "made Israel sin." How? By the laws and policies the king introduced. In fact, we find this exact phase used 20 times in the New King James version of the Bible in 1st and 2nd Kings.
What sins were they committing? They set up false worship to Baal's and Asherah. These religions included prostitution as part of their worship and you'll find Baal worship sometimes included the sacrifice of children. These acts are some of the abominations warned about in Leviticus 18.
Instituting laws that encouraged abominable acts hastens judgment on a people. It causes a spiritual law regarding land defilement to kick in.
It is in this context we find the prophet Elijah coming on the scene in 1st Kings 17. First he confronts King Ahab and commands a drought. Then Jezebel begins to persecute and kill the prophets of the Lord. In 1st Kings 18 he confronts the false prophets of Jezebel. Ultimately, he was confronting the laws the civil government leader had put into place.
Why? Because those laws and policies hastened judgment on the people. It defiled the land and God, in His love, sent a prophet to deliver the truth so they would lose their land and their lives.
We also find kings who enacted laws policies that honored God's word like Hezekiah and Josiah in 2nd Kings. These actions invited blessings for all the people.
If you want a thorough list of the blessings and consequences then I encourage you to visit Deuteronomy 28.
Modern Laws that Encourage Acts that Defile the Land
Today in America we have laws that encourage and fund the murder of the unborn and most recently the Democrat Party has taken a stand for infanticide. That my friends is literally the murder of children.
That's an abomination. We have other laws on the books that undermine God's definition of marriage, undermine the family, and undermine individual identify that deceives people into thinking there is more than male or female. Some of these laws and policies encourage homosexuality and promiscuity that is virtually the same thing and worse that we see identified in Leviticus 18, Romans 1 or Deuteronomy 28.
These are acts which cause the land to vomit the inhabitants out.
In the United States Republic public servants are chosen to serve in office through a democratic process. Disciples are made one at a time. It takes a majority vote to put one in office.
Would you agree that disciples of Christ would choose men and women to serve who reflect the truth found in God's word? They should! When people call themselves Christians but do not vote for people or laws who policies reflect the truth in God's word then I call them impostors. They are liars. They are lying to themselves and everyone else.
Christian literally means "Christ like." A disciple will know God's word and Jesus says in John 14:15 that if you love Him you will keep His commandments. If you know God's word then you know that Jesus there at creation. You know that He says He came to fulfill the law and not do away with it. You know that it says in Hebrews 10:7.... "behold I come in the volume of the book it is written of Me to do Your will, O God."
So the law in a land is very important.
The laws of a land will be one metric by which a discipled nation is measured.
What Will it Take to Turn America Around?
I submit it will take exactly what we saw modeled in 1st and 2nd Kings. God's solution included sending prophets in the spirit of Elijah to confront false religion, kings, queens, their evil policies and false prophets.
We see in the New Testament that John the Baptist was sent in the spirit of Elijah (Luke 1:17) to prepare the way of the Lord. What did John do? He confronted the king and queen over their sins and he dealt with a number of societal issues calling men and women to repent. Suffice it to say, he was not politically correct.
So it is in this day only I do not believe there will be a prophet but rather a company of people who move in the spirit of power of Elijah. These will call not just the civil government leaders to repent, to change their laws and policies, but will also challenge the people in the nation to turn to our Lord. This will require:
- Strategic bold continual prayer
- Kingdom come and will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
- Faith in action with wisdom
- This means you do not retreat but actively engage in the electoral process and communicate with your elected representatives in government.
Heavenly Father I pray, send forth a company of believers who'll arise like Elijah, Elisha and John the Baptist who will prepare the way for our Lord. A company of people who'll obey Matthew 28:19-20 and make disciples of all nations.
Malachi 4:5-6
Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet
Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.
And he will turn
The hearts of the fathers to the children,
And the hearts of the children to their fathers,
Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”
