That's led us to a place where we've entered into a new season of self discipline. It's not a religious thing per se! But it is a discipline. It's like Paul said 1 Corinthians 9:27, "But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified."
Desire & Discipline Turn Into a Delight
Years ago in the 1980s we began a hungry pursuit of God and it led to "could you not tarry one hour." That was the goal. We discovered that what began as a desire, turned into a discipline which later turned into a delight. Today, it was not uncommon for me to spend easily two to three hours a day with our Lord in the word and in prayer.
Because we are not satisfied we've challenged ourselves through our involvement in a school of the prophets with Jesus Ministries (Bro. Sadhu). In his school we have homework which includes at least one hour each day in tongues, one hour each day meditating on and reading God's word, and at least one our a day waiting (watching and listening quietly) to see what our Lord might want to show or speak to us.
Prepare to Make Way for the King in 2019
Last week when I'd arisen long before the sun rose I head the Lord speak so clearly, "Make Way for the King in 2019!" This is what led to the call for a 21 day Daniel Fast. Click here for details as to why a Daniel Fast at this time.
Then I realized how that the daily disciplines we were working on were "MAKING WAY for the KING of KINGS and Lord of Lords, in our lives... every day. This is a must if we intend to obey that word corporately too.
Many have asked lots of questions about the fast as well some have asked many questions about the new disciplines. With that in mind I'll share some common questions and my answer.
Fasting means abstaining from food. There are three types of fast I'd like to mention.
- Standard Fast - a person drinks water only.
- Absolute or a Full Fast - a person abstains from drink and food. You should not go beyond 3 days.
- Partial Fast - a person restricts certain food or drinks.
A Daniel Fast is a partial fast. To learn more what kinds of foods or how to prepare to do a Daniel Fast click Dr. Axe's article on Daniel Fast: Benefits for Your Spiritual, Emotional and Physical Health
Pray & Obey
In any type of fast, the goal is not to hurt yourself but rather to bring the flesh under subjection to the authority of your spirit man. In 1 Samuel 15:22 God says through His prophet that to obey is better than sacrifice. Hence, I strongly urge you to pray and obey about what you will fast. The issue is between you and God.
What are the New Disciplines You've Begun to Follow?
We spend a minimum of 3 hours a day with the Lord. At least, one hour in each of the following.
- Tongues - praying out loud in your prayer language.
- Meditating on God's Word - which includes reading, studying and meditating. Biblical meditation includes softly speaking the scriptures over and over again.
- Waiting - which includes quietly, being very still, watching and listening to see what God wants to show you or speak to you.
In addition, we are also focused on "opening our hearts" to God's correction and watching our words. We've got be careful how and what speak.
Is Three Hours All You Spend with the Lord each Day?
No! These disciplines have not included our personal daily prayer nor any other Bible study i might do for work. Therefore, we can actually spend a lot more time than just 3 hours. Candidly, there are lots of things we all typically do to waste time every day. For example, take the TV as a starting place and go from there.
We Keep a Journal
Personally I keep my journal on my Ipad while Brenda writes hers in a notebook. I track when I awake, the time I devote to each discipline and then I write notes about any thing concerning my heart, my tongue and I record anything I see, hear or experience.
Yes, I've had some experiences. Since I've begun I've noticed I've remembered a lot more dreams and I've also has some glimpses of images or picture stills that I'd classify has the beginnings of an open vision. You see, I'm gifted like a nabyi prophet. Nabyi means to bubble up. I just know things. Its a revelatory anointing. Seers are prophets who have open visions. I have seen visions for years. Visions in my minds eye so to speak. But I want, we want more.
How Do You Wait?
I kneel at my chair or I sit. Personally, this is the biggest challenge for me. Praying in tongues, piece of cake! Reading and studying God's word, piece of cake I love doing it. But waiting, quietly, still! That's a huge challenge for me. I usually pace as that it how I stay awake. But as I have progressed, I've gone from 5 minutes to being able to kneel for 30 minutes and sit for 48 minutes. Then, I fidget and start over again.
I begin by kneeling, closing my eyes and greeting my heavenly Father and I ask Him, Lord, what would you like to say to me today or, what would you like to show me? Then I stay focused on my Lord and as needed, as images or thoughts come by my mind, if I discern it is the Lord I will ask Him, Lord, what is this that I see? Or, what are you trying to say to me? Help me understand? I also meditate upon scriptures which focus on seeking the Lord.
Habbakkuk 2:1
I will take my stand at my watchpost
and station myself on the tower,
and look out to see what he will say to me...
Accountability & Our Experience
We send Brother Sadhu a report every month with our times and experiences or revelations regarding an open heart, how we did watching over our words (tongue) and describing our supernatural experiences. Now this is our experience. We are NOT SAYING you have to do this. I'm just sharing an aspect of our lives.
If you would like to follow us in this then I would invite you to:
- Pray and ask out Lord what He wants you to do! How much time does He want you to spend with him each day?
- Pray and ask Him what He wants you to do
If you would like help with your personal accountability then I would suggest that you?
- Determine how much time he wants you to spend each day in each area. Then communicate to us what God said.
- Record the times you spend every day with the Lord in our 1Church1Day app.
- Pray the decrees and prayer alerts we send.
- Report any supernatural experience or word as it occurs.
- Once a month send me a summary report that includes:
- Average hours every day in:
- Tongues
- Meditating on God's word
- Waiting
- Open heart, tongue and supernatural experiences.
- Average hours every day in:
