You see, if you understand the Bible you can understand how the world works. But if you choose to ignore God's word and history, well you can continue to play the fool. Fools are the ones whom pride blinds to truth.
In America we all know about the Azusa Street Revival where Holy Spirit was poured out in 1905. However, I was unaware of what Holy Spirit was doing in other nations like Germany. What I did not know is summarized in the 11/30/2012 Charisma article "Is Revival Emerging in Germany?" It said,
"Germany’s Pentecostal church can be traced back to 1905, when a group of Lutheran Pietists from the Fellowship Movement experienced the baptism in the Holy Spirit. The move of God, which happened in Mülheim in the Ruhr Valley, saw 3,000 conversions recorded in six weeks. Opposition surfaced after that, and Lutheran church leaders signed the Berlin Declaration in 1909, rejecting Pentecostalism as “from below.”
The Berlin Declaration click for Wikipedia article, ..... "was a theological statement by 56 leading Evangelical theologians in Germany.[1] The declaration condemns the German Pentecostal movement which had started two years earlier in Kassel. It stated that the Pentecostal movement was “not from above, but from below..."
Bottom line, a significant portion of Evangelical leaders blasphemed Holy Spirit. In doing so, they set themselves up to receive an anti-Christ spirit.... and they did! The results:
World War II & the Holocaust
Why do I say that?

Blasphemy means to vilify, speak evil or slander. A person committing blasphemy attributes to another person characteristics which are false. Hence they slander them. They speak evil.
So why is blasphemy against Holy Spirit unforgivable? It's because Jesus sent Holy Spirit to convict (John 16:8). When a person rejects Holy Spirit or calls Him something He is not, then they can no longer be convicted. They won't recognize Holy Spirit. It's like the Berlin Declaration. They specifically said that the Pentecostal experience was from below, which we all know means hell. They basically called Holy Spirit the Devil.
Jesus was called Christ because He was anointed by and through Holy Spirit. To reject Holy Spirit opens one up to an anti-Christ spirit. If you don't recognize Holy Spirit then how can you be convicted of sin and if you can't be convicted how can you repent and ask forgiveness?
The Church Choose Hell & Their Nation Suffered Their Choice!
Fifty seven theologians representing several denominations blasphemed the Holy Spirit. This choice blinded them.
The blindness led to choices that are contrary to God's word that were reflected by the German church's support of their government, leaders, laws and policies. Laws and demonic policies that advocated racism, justified the extermination of the Jews, the handicapped, etc.
This set the course for their nation's choice which ended up with Hitler, an anti-Jewish Nazi ideology and the Third Reich. Lying, deception and murder were the modas operandi of this regime and it resulted in over 6 million Jews murdered along with over 60 million killed total. Satan's handy work is clearly evident (John 8:31-45 & John 10:10). Well, it is evident to many of us, but they were blinded.
Not every Christian rejected Holy Spirit, but a preponderance of leading theologians did. The choices of our leaders matter and whom you are a part of or walking in covenant with matters.
Thankfully there is always a remnant. For example, we have marvelous examples like Dietrich Bonhoeffer who took a courageous stand and died standing for truth and resisting evil.
Imagine what might of happened had the Church in Germany welcomed Holy Spirit's outpouring.
Why Is this Important Today?
It's because there is a certain segment of the Church today who has followed the example of the theologians who wrote the Berlin Declaration. For example Pew Research Center posted a list of Religious Groups official positions on same sex marriage in 2012. The article identifies several denominations whose leadership as compromised and given ministers the option of blessings or permitting same sex marriage ie. Episcopal, Lutheran, American Baptists, Presbyterians... and then you will find those within those same denominations who oppose it.
My friends there is a war over truth! It was true then and it is true now.
Theologians from those denominations reject Holy Spirit, blaspheme God and in the process begin to advocate for political leaders who habitually lie and support policies such as the murder of unborn children and the legalization of same sex marriage. These things, shedding innocent blood, murdering children and homosexuality are listed in scripture as abominations (Leviticus 18, 20 and Romans 1). Abominations are acts that destroy societies.
Paul warned Timothy of these days in 2 Timothy 3:1 -5 & 8
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!.... vs 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith...
Therefore, it is important for us today to stand for truth. We must be salt and light kind of like what Paul told Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:2-3. He said, Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;
Lessons Learned
If you understand the Bible, you will understand how the world works. When I heard about the Berlin Declaration in 1909 I immediately understood the cause of World War I, World War II and things that are even unfolding today. I submit this to you for your learning and prayerful consideration.
- Pride blinded the theologians.
- Calling Holy Spirit the devil set them up for an antiChrist spirit to work through them and their nation.
- Not only did Germany suffer but many others were impacted by their choices.
- While Hitler and His regime is responsible, the Church was responsible for allowing and even supporting laws and policies that violated God's word.
- In war (spiritual war) there are three kinds of people. Volunteers, those in neutral and anti-war protesters. Its like in ministry, there are those who celebrate you, those who tolerate you and those who oppose you. The biggest challenge comes not from those how oppose you but rather those who tolerate you or say they are neither for or against. A neutral position is actually standing with the opposition. A neutral Church in Germany , a willingly ignorant Church turning a blind eye in Germany was actually supporting Hitler and his antiChrist agenda.
- There is a true and a false Church.
- We should, "Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching."
History is in the Hands of the Intercessors!
Truly, history is in the hands of the intercessors! Well, that's partially true. History starts in prayer but must be accompanied by faith in action, based upon wisdom and God's love.
This past week I met leaders in Tennessee and Kentucky. I was privileged to meet the Mayor of Coffee County, Gary Cordel and Alex, the one who heads his intercessory prayer team.
Alex gave me a book by Derek Prince, "Shaping History Through Prayer and Fasting." Then he told me how that book has challenged them to pray. They began praying for their community in 2007 and by 2014 God called Gary to run for mayor.
He won and his county with 55,000 people has been blessed through the righteous policies that have been implemented. The community is prospering. So it started with praying, but it also required faith in action based on love combined with the wisdom of God to make that impact.
These guys have set an excellent example. Let's pray Gary wins his reelection campaign and that they'd find some churches there to help them implement 1Church1Day. The mayor would love it to have God's abiding presence welcomed in His county 24/7/365. Let's pray that enough churches catch the vision so the mayor has that which He has asked Christ for. He wants nothing more than for Christ to be glorified and the people in his community blessed through a relationship with Jesus.
