Why don't we know? Well, part of the reason is God is exercising God COMSEC (Communication Security according to Wikipedia is "is the discipline of preventing unauthorized interceptors from accessing telecommunications in an intelligible form, while still delivering content to the intended recipients" I submit He's waiting on the Church to accomplish an assignment and he also knows that we are people, have difficulty with our tongues and "loose lips sink ships." Hebrews 10:12-13 says;
"But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool."
He is Waiting Until....
His enemies are made His footstool. Psalm 110:1-2 was quoted by Jesus in Matthew, Mark and Luke where it says:
"The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” The Lord shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion. Rule in the midst of Your enemies!"
When this was written the context was, whenever a king was seated on His throne, it was where He placed His feet. That was a footstool and it went with the throne.
The Church has a Job To Finish!
Where does God want to set our King?
Psalm 2:6 - “Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion.”
Zion is where the Tabernacle of David was located and it was marked by 24/7 prayer, praise and worship (Acts 15:16 & Amos 9:11). Continual prayer, praise and worship is the atmosphere of heaven and this makes God welcome. It's this prayer and praise that builds a chair for God to come and sit like a King. King David did this through an organization of teams to ensure this went on continually. 1 Chronicles 28:2 reveals another aspect of the location of God's footstool.
Where is God's Footstool?
1 Chronicles 28:2. Then King David rose to his feet and said, “Hear me, my brethren and my people: I had it in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and for the footstool of our God....
God's house is called a "house of prayer (Isa. 56:7)" The house of prayer is God's desire. The Tabernacle of David is like God's blue print for the "house of prayer." I submit this is the key of David spoken of in Isaiah 22:22. Why? Because it was the first decision (judgment) David made as king. He decided to bring back God's abiding presence.
Any community where the Church chooses to collaborate together to establish 24/7 prayer, praise and worship is where a footstool is being made for our Lord. It's a place where He can rest His feet. It's a place where He is seated as King.
A King rules and reigns. King Jesus has good news. It's called the gospel of the kingdom. Psalm 2 goes on to describe how God's son will rule out of Zion.
